Hello Sandra, Yes you can keep it attached it is recommended to make sure the knob on the regulator is loosened 1-2 more turns help protect agains leakage.
Hi, does this machine run on electricity only or does it need gas?
This and the other welders by Sunstone do not requre gas to fuction. It is however highly recommended to produce clean and more consistent welds.
"Permanent jewelry" is just the start of what can be done with these machines. I have the 100c and building my own chain to use for permanent jewelry got me started, but I found once I get the hang of it the only real limit is my imagination. Thumbs up on the machine. Kent

I’m new to this, so i have a question…is this better than just using silver solder? Is the wire you are using 999 purity?
Using the same purity of silver is best. In this case it is a .925 silver ring so the filler wire is also .925 silver.

The main difference is the revision. The i3 is the current version. The i2 has been disconnected for about 4 years now.

I’m getting a big spark . What am I doing wrong?
I have found is that the electrode is the largest factor. I personally sharpen mine every 2-5 welds. So that I can get that consistent weld every time. If you do that then it is likely the power being too high. I am about 5-6 on 24AWG gold and silver jump rings. I only use solid gold jumps even when using GF chain. I found that it welds much better and looks better too. I hope that helps!

The PCB even though it is built on an aluminum substrate, the solder points are tin plated copper. The fuse is also solderable, probably tinned copper. It would be nice to see real aluminum resistance welding.
